Shaping of the new log got underway today....

Had a really fun and interesting afternoon, watching it go from glued up blank chunk of foam to something resembling a board. Chris named it the Takybo, he used a Takyama Model-T template for the nose and a 40 yr old Bilbo template for the tail.  It's chunky and fab.

 

Chris let me loose on it a few times, not just sanding block but handsaw, jigsaw, wood plane. All pretty scary, especially knowing how crap I was at CDT at school,  however,  I managed not to screw it up - big plus.
